In Shanghai logistics industry, there is one company who deals with world top 500 enterprises intensively and provides supply chain management services to BMW, Daimler, Porsche and other famous brands. That is Shanghai Together International Co., Ltd. (Hereinafter referred to as ‘TIL’)
Established on July 1st, 2010, TIL started with only 3 trucks and a dozen drivers and Toyota was its only customer. However, great-leap-forward development happened in TIL in last 7 years. Today, it grows up into a comprehensive logistics enterprise, which offers Customs & CIQ Declaration, Warehouse Operation Service, Transportation Service, Supply Chain ERP System development service. Meanwhile, TIL has obtained China AAAA Level Comprehensive Logistics Enterprise Certification, honor of Shanghai famous brand, private enterprise star of free trade zone, etc. Now, our journalist came to interview Steven Zhang, President of TIL on the issue of how TIL can accomplish so much in such a short time.
Steven Zhang told our journalist that TIL’s success owed to the followings:
Firstly, TIL insists on the enterprise purpose of “people oriented, towards excellence”.
TIL has established comprehensive internal control system, such as HR management, quality & risk management, performance & cost management and SOP management, to achieve the sustainable development of lean, scientific and systematic enterprise management .
Secondly, TIL insists on the concept of “technology innovates services; professionalism creates efficiency”.
Through establishing the cooperation mechanism of integrating data resources and sharing information, TIL has developed all-in-one transportation platform, intelligent warehouse management platform, vehicle ID & auto exterior detection system, which leads the informationization and modernization process in Shanghai logistics industry.
Thirdly, TIL insists on the service principle of “considerate and safe”.
Keeping the concept of integrity, TIL has been always targeting at providing professional and efficient supply chain solutions to clients, which has been recognized by many top 500 customers.
Mr. Zhang said that the lean logistics management, proposed by Toyota, promoted TIL’s development in the preliminary period. In order to ensure the transportation quality of vehicles, Toyota spent about half month in training TIL’s drivers. They did not just only provide practical training but also training materials and driver-training trucks. They have been always insisting on standard procedure. If any mistake appeared in training, they would give solutions timely. Therefore, TIL developed its own training system with the help of SOP to improve its service. At present, TIL’s standardized operation have been recognized by many first-class brand enterprises.
Mr. Zhang believes that the customer is the boss; therefore, meeting customers’ demand was the key to enterprise’s survival and development. Whatever requirements client proposed, TIL would try their best to give solutions with its professional knowledge.
Following the principle of openness, fairness and justice, TIL is growing to be a modern logistics enterprise with the focus on informationization and intellectualization.
Customers can clearly get all information from TIL’s all-in-one transportation platform, incl. order, capacity allocation, auto disposition plan, drivers’ actual operation status, KPI, human face recognition system, Fatigue driving warning system and physical signs detection, etc. Thus, TIL can manage to reduce the management cost of 50% to enhance its market competitiveness. TIL is growing at a rate of 20 to 30 % per year.
Mr. Zhang told us that the warehouse could park 8000 vehicles at the same time, about more than 40 types, distributed in the two multi-layer warehouses. In the past, it was time-consuming and laborious for client to pick up a car. Today, with the help of RFID technology, TIL can monitor every vehicle in real time. It just needs a few seconds to locate a car, and it can simultaneously upload the information to German Mercedes-Benz headquarters. The management efficiency has been improved significantly.
TIL will bring revolutionary changes to Shanghai logistics industry via adopting paperless scheduling, distributing order through mobile APP, using automatic vehicle disposition system and enhancing customers’ satisfaction on timely delivery rate, lower damage rate and other key points.
When talking about the issue on the relationship between the development of enterprises and the interests of employees, Mr. Zhang believed that employees were the cornerstone of enterprise’s survival and development. Therefore, since TIL established, every Monday morning Mr. Zhang’s office is open to all employees. If any employee has any question, he can ask the CEO face-to face or through We-chat public platform.
TIL’s offer to employees is quite attractive. Besides salary and bonus, TIL has a performance incentive system which employees have a proportional share of what they’ve earned for the company.
TIL’s transportation center, while locates far from city center, has perfect facilities for staff including canteen, staff lounge, shower room and a fitness center. TIL encourages its employees to carry out regular sports activities.
At the end of the interview, Mr. Zhang said that TIL would stand on a new starting point, firmly seize the logistics development opportunity of truck broker platform and multimodal transportation, making greater efforts to be the benchmark of vehicle logistics service provider in Asia Pacific region.
